A quick way to change the margins is to select the Layout tab in the toolbar at the top of the screen. Then in the Margins group, you will be able to view and change the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right margin values using the respective controls.

I think they are actually set to 1 inch.at least that's how big the left and right margins look on the document.

However, although I can manually drag the ruler in I can't get the line divider between the main text and the footnotes to move.
