Anything that I imported as a picture had that little circle above it which allowed me to rotate it in a complete circle. But the text boxes on their own wouldn't do it! So I followed your advice and used the save feature called 'Save as picture' which converted it to a picture and then I could rotate it. The only thing is you have to create your text first (fonts, spacing etc.) first before saving as picture because you can't after.
